A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner

ABOUT THE BOOK

This is not your typical love story.
It’s a story of almosts and could-have-beens.

Of friendship that teeters on the edge of something more.
Of passion so intoxicating, it burns.

Jamie and B are two hearts caught in the tangle of bad timing and unspoken words. Their connection defies labels—too deep for friendship, too tangled for love. Over a decade of moments, choices, and missed opportunities, they find themselves drawn together like a moth to a flame, even when the world—and their own mistakes—keep pulling them apart.

Is it obsession? Destiny? Or just self-destruction with a pretty face?

Sometimes, love isn’t about finding the right person—it’s about the moment when everything aligns.

But what if that moment never comes?

MY REVIEW

Wow! I’ve certainly been on a roll reading beautiful, heartfelt stories and A Love Letter to Whiskey is no exception. I was so glad a friend recommended it.

Ever been in a situation where you really wanted to be with someone, but the timing just wasn’t right?  B and Jamie are two hearts connected in a complex web of bad timing and unresolved feelings. Over the span of more than a decade, they’ve shared countless moments, made several choices, and missed out on endless opportunities. Each time they find their way back to one another, it feels as if the universe, and their own blunders, try their hardest to keep them apart.

I was on the edge of my seat, screaming at my book and at the same time, rooting for these two to finally get their act together. Every single moment felt relatable, and I could see pieces of my own life mirrored in their story. It’s not your typical love story; it’s messy, complicated, and utterly real. It had me hooked from the very first page, and just like that first drop of whiskey that B loved so much, I knew I was in for a wild ride.

Brecks is a unique and meaningful name for a flawed and extraordinary girl. It made her stronger, smarter, and ready to conquer the world. I admire her tenacity to find her place in the world, but my heart broke every time she pushed Jamie away. You see, she didn’t know how to love someone. It brought her fear and panic.

Jamie knew what he wanted from the first time he saw B, but unfortunate circumstances and fate delayed the inevitable. I was angry at Jamie’s bad choices. I felt B was his second choice more than once and he didn’t fight hard enough for her. And then, I read Jamie’s POV, and he changed my mind. I hoped when he hoped, I cried when he cried, and then I finally understood where he was coming from.

Steiner’s writing style is intoxicating. I was pleasantly surprised by how complex both B and Jamie were. They felt real with all their flaws and struggles. I was lucky to grab the fifth anniversary edition which features Jamie’s side of the story as well as an extended epilogue giving me all the feels for their lovely future.

Kudos are noted to Jenna for backing up her bestie and giving B the support and honest advice she needed.

I recommend immersing yourself in the unforgettable, frustrating, and beautiful chaos of B and Jamie’s relationship. They worked so hard for what they deserved, and it was so worth the wait!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kandi Steiner is a USA Today and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author living in Tennessee. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. Her love for writing started at the ripe age of 10, and in 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”

She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a hopeless romantic and found herself bursting at the seams with love stories she was eager to tell.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, hiking, yoga, spending quality time with her family (fur babies included) and soaking up the sweetness of life.
